Cadbury Darkmilk Chocolate Bar Review!

by - 12:24

There are many health benefits to dark chocolate, but I am not a fan of the bitterness. I was walking doing my weekly shop when I spotted Cadbury Darkmilk on offer! I have seen it around before but haven't picked it up before now. Lets taste!

Darkmilk is one of Cadbury's latest creations. It combines Bourneville with milky Cadbury chocolate to create a bold and more mature flavour. Each bar weighs 85g, and a 3 chunk portion has 79 calories. I bought this bar for 99p, but it is usually £1.50.

Having opened the packet, a rich cocoa scent hits. The bar is smaller and flatter than usual with a swirl on the top. I like the design, it is something different, to separate this bar from the dairy milk collection.

The taste was something new. I am not a fan of dark chocolate, but something was amazing about this bar. It was rich yet smooth and creamy. You can taste the signature Cadbury chocolate, but you get a rich,  Bourneville aftertaste. It is pleasing and feels more adult than a dairy milk bar, but not as overwhelming as dark chocolate. It is enjoyable and moreish. I couldn't eat more than 3 pieces at a time as I found it sickly, but those 3 are all you need for this experience.

The chocolate wasn't claggy, nor did it cling to your mouth. There are no vegetable fats in this bar which would be why, making it better for you. For a bar of dark chocolate, it was also surprisingly sweet. I was impressed with the flavour and, despite knowing it is chocolate, it felt good for you.

If you don't like a hint of strong cocoa, this bar still may not be for you but, I enjoyed it. I was surprised as it was smooth and different from other Cadbury bars. The taste was strange as you got both a milky flavour and a rich cocoa taste, but it was an experience I would happily have again. I managed to eat the whole bar within a few days and while it is on offer, will pick up some more in my shop. I think this chocolate bar is great. It isn't your typical dark chocolate with a sickly rich flavour but a mix between sweet and bitter. I think it is a decent in-between and one that I will continue to buy.

What do you think of Cadbury darkmilk? Have you tried any of the other flavours? Sitting beside me is a bar of the salted caramel darkmilk which I am excited to try next! Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

  2. I tried darkmilk a while ago and I really enjoyed it. I am a lover of both dark and milk chocolate so I would describe this as the perfect in between. I haven't tried the salted caramel one but I definitely need to, I didn't realise they did other flavours!! - Sophie Lou
