Restaurants Participating In The Eat Out To Help Out Scheme In Cambridge

Wednesday, July 29, 2020

If you fancy eating out, throughout the whole of August, restaurants are offering a 50% discount on meals that you purchase. Designed to help out restaurants, the scheme has been introduced to get people out again. I live in Cambridgeshire. I thought it would be useful to share all the participating restaurants in my local area, so you know where to head to first! I will be adding to the list as more restaurants participate, so keep checking back for updates! One of my favourite bloggers, Reinventing Neesha, has done Cardiff and Swansea if you're heading to Wales!

The picture is a thumbnail photo. In the background is a spread of healthy food like tomatoes and bread. There are people reaching over and enjoying the food. There is a pink textbook in the middle saying "Eat out to help out Cambridgeshire - Participating restaurants"

What Is The Scheme & How Can I Use It?

From the 3rd of August, for the whole month, you can get 50% off your restaurant meals at participating places. You don't require a voucher or a minimum spend, but you can only get up to £10 discount on the food you order.

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, you can enjoy half-price food all day. This scheme isn't limited to how many times you can use it in a day, but don't go crazy! You can't claim a discount on the tip or alcoholic drinks.

Each restaurant will have its own rules. For example, a local restaurant won't let you use it on takeaway orders, whereas others might. Some can also use it in conjunction with an NHS, Military or Emergency Service card. Please ask your local restaurant for more information as some places will have different variations of the rules.

Chain Restaurants Participating

Although I'd recommend supporting small businesses, there are lots of chains that are also offering massive discounts on their food. Have I missed one? If you're in the Cambridgeshire area, let me know so I can add you to the list! You can contact me via email - I will respond to you ASAP!

The image shows a pretty canopy with groups of people sitting round tables and enjoying meals. It is an outdoor restaurant with people laughing and sitting on wicker chairs

There are so many other places to go, ones that I may have missed out. This is an amazing offer and should be used sensibly. From hotels to golf clubs, you'll be surprised to find out who is participating in your local area. Places may vary across counties, so check before you visit. If there are restrictions, don't be rude about it. Accept any discounts you are given. We're supporting businesses, not just getting a cheap meal.

When you're eating out, please be mindful of social distancing rules. Try to book ahead where possible, especially for independent restaurants. It will help them cope with high demand. If you're eating out, please consider the small business who really need your help. The chains can manage while small businesses rely on you to get by. Are you going to be making use of the "Eat Out To Help Out" scheme? Let me know what restaurant you're excited to try out!
