How To Increase You DA Score Quickly

Thursday, September 17, 2020

I love working with brands, but I found that they would only really consider you if you had a DA score of 10 or more. As a new blogger, that can be difficult, especially if you want to start monetising your blog. Within 3 months of starting my blog, I had hit DA score of 10. I had worked really hard to get it to that point, but I thought I'd share how I did it! Here are some ways to can increase your DA score quickly, but effectively!

What Is A DA Score?

A DA score is a ranking of your website. Your blog, website or business page is given a score out of 100, where 100 means the most authoritative your site can be. The higher the DA score, the more likely your results will show up in a search engine. A DA score is influenced by multiple things, including SEO, backlinks and age. If you don't want to wait for your blog to age, you can work on your SEO and backlinks.

If you'd like to check your DA score, you can sign up for a MOZ.com account. You get 10 free checks a month. You won't need to check it every day!

Why Do I Need A DA Score?

There are a few reasons why you'll want to work on your DA score as a blogger. A DA score isn't a necessity, but it will help you out a lot. Firstly, if you're looking to work with brands, you'll need a higher DA score.

If you're applying to blog collaborations, some of them will require a DA score. Most clients will ask for a DA of 10 or above. It's beneficial to have a higher DA score as you're more likely to be accepted into jobs, and will get paid more.

The other reason you should work on your DA score is for traffic. The better your score, the more likely you'll rank on Google, leading to search engine traffic. It means that if someone searches something, your post will come up higher than another blogger!

Purchase Your Own Domain & Go Self Hosted

For my first month, my blog was a .blogspot website. It was hard to grow my blog and be taken seriously by brands as I didn't own my own domain. If you're looking to work on your DA score, you need to at least by your own domain. If you purchase a domain name, later on, your DA score will drop as your domain name changes. If you're serious about blogging, I'd recommend taking the plunge asap and getting your domain sorted. It will help you build your blog brand from the start. Going self-hosted is a bonus step. It will give you a lot more freedom and control. If you want to purchase your own domain and go self-hosted, I would recommend doing it through Lyrical Hosting. I use them, and I love it! It's affordable, and their customer service is amazing.

If you follow my link and use the code "LoveEm10", you will get 10% off your first purchase with them!

Guest Post For Other Bloggers

I was lucky enough to be furloughed for a few months, meaning I could work on a lot of guest posts. I believe that writing so many guest posts has helped me to increase my DA score the quickest. Guest posts allow you to write something for another blogger and include the links you want to promote. It's a great way of building traffic, getting your name out there and increasing your backlinks.

Lots of bloggers will let you write for them, you just need to make sure you comply with their requirements. Different bloggers will have different needs. Some let you add 3 links, some want you to write 2000 words and some only need you to stick to a certain theme. Look around and don't be afraid to ask bloggers if you can write for them! Make sure you stick to their requirements. Otherwise, you'd be writing a post that won't get published! When writing a post, aim to write for bloggers with a higher DA score than you. This will benefit you in the long run and make for a higher quality backlink.

If you'd like to increase your DA score and write for me, I accept guest bloggers! Check out my requirements, and we can sort you out a slot! I talk about lots of different topics, so hopefully, we can find you something!

Purchase Advertising

In July, I started offering advertising slots. There was lots of interest in this as it not only increases your DA score but brings traffic to your blog. Advertising with another blogger means that you'll get promotion, backlinks and support from the host. It's a really easy way to increase your DA score without a lot of work. Lots of bloggers offer advertising slots, so decide which bloggers you like and which ones match your niche. I have seen packages range from £3 to £25, so look around for what suits you best.

If you'd like to advertise on my blog and increase your DA score, check out my Advertisers page! There's lots of information about my packages and what's included. Be quick though, these places get snapped up fast!

Comment On Other Blogger's Posts

If you have a spare hour, show some love to other bloggers! Not only do bloggers appreciate your comments, but they will also often return them. If you leave your link in the comment, it can help your DA score. Don't do this too often as it can be spammy, but if you leave a lengthy and quality comment, there's no harm in signing off "Em | www.loveemblog.com" to increase your DA score.

If you're commenting on a post, please don't leave "great post" as a lot of bloggers will ignore or delete it. Read the post and write something meaningful. It'll look better when you leave your link, and more bloggers will feel inclined to click on it. Comments are a great way to increase your traffic and meet new bloggers too!

Connect Your Blog With Interlinks

If you've read a lot of my posts, I will occasionally put "Related: Name Of Blog Post" after a paragraph. This is because I am linking back to other pages of my blog. It can help to increase your DA score when you link to related pages. It can also increase your traffic as interested readers navigate through to related pages. I will occasionally link specific keywords to other pages too, as it flows better and looks more natural.

When you post something new, go through your old posts and see if you can add the link in somewhere. You can also go back through your old posts and add in new, relevant links.

Join In With Blogger Collaborations

If you don't have the time to write a guest post or the money for advertising, you can join in with blogger collaborations. There are times that a blogger will need you for a quote/tip in return for a backlink. It will take 5 minutes to write 100 words on something, and you can increase your DA by providing a link back to your blog.

If you scroll through Twitter, you'll find callouts for help. You may also find them on Facebook blogger groups for clients with high DA scores. Although you won't get paid for your help, the backlink is valuable for your DA score. It doesn't take too long to help other bloggers, but the link will help your blog grow. It can also direct traffic back to your blog!

These are just some easy and quick ways you can increase your DA score. It's good to work on these things but remember DA increases will take time. It's good to work on these things if you have time, and implement good SEO practises in the meantime. Don't rush things. If you nurture your blog, you'll reap the rewards later on. You also don't want to overwhelm yourself with guest posts and comments. Choose a few things and perfect them! What have you been doing to increase your DA score? Let me know what method works best for you!

  1. Oooh thank you, this is exactly the topic I've been wanting to learn more about. My blog is just under 6 months old and I currently have a DA of 12. It is definitely a goal of mine to get that up quite a bit by my first blogiversary in March. I thought links in comments were nofollow links. Did I misunderstand that before? Thanks for the tips!

  7. Some great tips.

I've heard many bloggers talking about buying and using a custom domain ASAP but that can be quite pricey lol, I'm still working towards that. I've recently started guest posting which I'm enjoying and accepting guest posts which I see has positively affected my blog's DA.

Thanks so much for sharing these helpful tips!

  8. Great advice Em.

I’m so pleased with the increase in mine but it can be hard going at times.

The advice about collab’s is great, I’d not thought of that. Although I’ve contributed to a few.

It’s taken me 9 months to get to 12 so I have a lot of work to do x x

  12. Thanks for sharing this. I wrote my first guest post recently & also find a website called HARO (Help A Reporter Out) to be a really useful source. They send you potential articles you can get involved with from some major companies. I recently was featured on Lifney which was really cool. My domain Rating is shocking, but I'm really enjoying learning about how I can improve it!

  19. This is really helpful advice for new bloggers and those of us who have been around for a while but are looking for ways to increase DA. I do have one question in regards to leaving comments and signing it with your name and url, I have tried this before and it always blocks me from commenting because it thinks I am a bot. How do you get around this?

  22. I started blogging in 2018 then took a big break and relaunched this last July finally with my own domain and now self hosted so I’ve still got a lot to learn especially in increasing my DA which is currently at 4! So this has been very helpful, thank you x
