Meet The Business - Lyonsleaf!

Sunday, May 31, 2020

Not so long ago, I tried some balms to see if they would clear up my skin conditions. It was clear the Lyonsleaf balms could do anything as I have said goodbye to my eczema and acne in a matter of weeks! I wanted to learn more about Lyonsleaf and their business, so today's "Meet The Business" post will do just that!

For those who haven't read my last post of Lyonsleaf, you can find my review here! I really enjoyed using their miracle-making products, so I was excited to read more about the business. This interview is written by a lovely lady called Harriet, who works for Lyonsleaf!

Hi there! Could you tell me a bit about yourself and your business?

Lyonslead is a little farm based in The Mendip Hills, Somerset. We have a unique range of award-winning skincare products. Lyonsleaf was created to provide 100% natural, safe, effective and cruelty-free skincare. It is designed to be affordable to ordinary people while minimising the environmental impact. We grow our own herbs and control the quality and storage of them, which we believe contribute to the amazing results our customers see!

Why did you decide to start a 100% natural skincare business?

The founders, Ben and Vicky, began Lyonsleaf as a food and herb business, selling our vegetables and herbs to local markets and restaurants. They began to investigate the negative impact that certain chemicals had on the body. Vicky had an allergic reaction to a prescribed steroid cream for her eczema, so decided to make a homemade remedy for herself. Lyonsleaf evolved from there!

What makes your products special from others out there?

The products are 100% natural, safe, effective and cruelty-free suitable for all skin types. Our products are waterfree. This means they do not contain any preservatives or emulsifiers. We grow our very own herbs/plants right here on the farm and hand make the products all right here on the farm.

What is your favourite product out of all the range and why?

For my (Harriet), I have two favourites. I love to Hot Cloth Cleanse with the Beauty Balm. It’s the best cleanser I have ever used. It makes for a quick and simple routine in the morning and easily removes makeup at the end of the day. For a longer, more relaxing pampering session, I usually do this with a glass of wine and a long soak in the bath! The Calendula and Marshmallow Balm is great for some additional moisturising after cleansing. It makes my skin lovely and soft, it soothes any irritation and is really hydrating (great for my dry hands)

Vicky personally favours the Calendula and Marshmallow Balm which she carries around with her in her bag as its great for chapped lips, a dry nose, soothing any insect bites/stings and for dry hands (we are doing lots of handwashing and sanitising here at the moment, so it is a lifesaver!)

You give to charity, could you tell us how we can help?

We donate to charity for every review we receive, so by leaving reviews on the website and spreading the word it helps us give more. We also often donate a proportion of our sales from the discount codes used in the newsletter, so again by signing up and using the codes, not only do you get discounted products but also, the proceeds go to charity! (see our blog

What is your favourite part about working in the for a such an environmentally friendly company?

Vicky and Ben are absolutely amazing to work for. They have the most outstanding ethics and morals in regards to the planet. They truly work towards what they believe in. As a team, we are incredibly grateful for all that they do. It is incredibly easy to recommend the products when you completely believe in the story, the people behind it and the sensational results that the customers experience. I love knowing that everything that I do is genuine; from selling home-grown and handmade products that see outstanding results to promoting a charitable brand that actively does everything in its power to reduce their impact on the environment.

What challenges have you faced when running your business?

Vicky and Ben have worked extremely hard to get themselves to where they are today. It is especially challenging at the moment with the Coronavirus outbreak as we are running a very limited team. Ben and Vicky are currently homeschooling their daughter, whilst there is the business to run, products to make and orders to pack. Fortunately, I live very locally on the farm, so have been there to help throughout. I can speak for everyone when we say a few more hands-on-deck would be much more appreciated once some normality returns!

Is there anything you’re working toward or wanting to achieve?

We use only 100% natural and ethically sourced products. The field we use to grow the herbs went into organic conversion in 2018, this means 2020 will be the year that Lyonsleaf gains its Organic status!

If you could sum Lyonsleaf in 5 words, what would they be?

The Republic of Skin Care!

Thank you for answering the questions! Did you have anything else you would like to tell the world?

We would like to thank Em for her interest in Lyonsleaf and helping spread the word. I would like to say all our creams are all available to try as a sample. We have lots of information available on the website regarding the products, their uses, ingredients, the company etc. Please do take a look and we hope you enjoy the products.

Thank you to Harriet and the rest of the Lyonsleaf team for sending me some amazing products and answering the questions! There will be another Lyonsleaf review coming soon, so keep your eyes peeling! Have you got any skin conditions? What do you use to help them? Let me know in the comments!
